bible study

About a month ago, the Lord put in my heart a desire for a deeper diligent knowledge of his word. I signed up to audit a Calvary Chapel Bible College course on Systematic Theology. Didn't know what it was at the time, just that it was a fundamental requirement for college. Wow, this is great stuff! It is a comprehensive study of scripture around fundamental doctrines like the nature of God, Christ, Sin, Salvation, and End times.

There are a bunch of "OLOGIES" to be learned. We are to read AW Tozer's, "knowledge of the Holy".
  • First nugget. How we understand or think of God is very important to our walk and worship of Him. We are created beings, and have creature thoughts about God. We can never fully understand the Lord, and to think so puts us in danger of having "a god in a box".
  • We become like what we worship. As found in Psalms and Paul's writing, that idol worshipers become like that which they worship. Meaning they can't see or hear anything just like the wooden sticks they worship.
  • Lord may I worship you more as I learn about your nature and attributes!

One week into GTD, Truth

Well, its been a week of Getting Things Done. I have my various lists that are quite long, yet complete, so I don't worry so much about "what am I forgetting". Still have way too much to do, yet I did a few baby steps on getting some long overdue projects started ( like truck painting, bus. lawyer, etc).

Andrew gave a good Sunday message today. The 'belt of truth' really addressed the topic of absolute truth & how our culture & young people get stuck with relative truth.
If Jesus is absolute truth [I am the way, the Truth ...] then what is our purpose as followers? We are to take the battle for Truth to the world, not wait defensively to protect it.

Lord, grant me wisdom to make the right daily choices this week and the strength by your Spirit to carry those actions out, and the humility to give You all the glory for the results.

Back to blog again

Its been a busy time since my last post, however I'm seeking the Lord's help in making some changes to the way this life is managed, and regular postings could follow.

Business has had plenty of ox dung, yet I know the Lord's mercy is ever present. This is the first week of my new organizational system for all that overwhelming stuff. GTD is a method that looks promising. With the help of Jesus, there will be changes that ultimately bring Him glory.

Its not about me

I don't know how often I talk to the Awana kids, and others about this topic. Human nature(sin) has always been about self. Jesus said we must daily die to self. For example, one is to put their spouse's needs above their own. This can be difficult at times, but I try to always be mindful of Who i serve. Its more than a suggestion [I Jn 3:16]. In His honor, I obey. period.

Its not about me any longer, my life is offered to Him.

Found an interesting Illustration today about, "looking out for Number One":
Several years ago a book was published entitled "Looking Out for Number One." On the dedication page the author wrote, "Dedicated to the hope that somewhere in our universe there exists a civilization where the inhabitants possess sole dominion over their own lives." There is such a place. It's called Hell.

Sat night crisis

Well, at 11:30pm Sat night in Spokane I got call from my son, "I just called 911 because mom asked me to..."

Her stomach flu took a turn for the worst. Plans changed, I was in the truck 5min later racing back home to the hospital. The 200 miles took too long, but provided plenty of time to plead for the Lord's mercy on my family.

Got everyone home from hospital at 5:30am. Long night. I wonder what the spiritual battle that took place this night?
